SC bluetooth mouse
ergonomical mouse
Student project
duration : 3 weeks
2023
The SC Bluetooth Mouse was developed through an iterative design process focused on improving comfort during extended computer use while maintaining the intuitive operation of a traditional mouse. Initial research involved observing common pain points in standard mouse designs, particularly how flat profiles force the wrist into unnatural positions.

Process
This project began with an examination of common workplace discomfort caused by prolonged mouse use. The challenge was to create an accessible solution that genuinely addresses hand fatigue without requiring significant adaptation from users. The design direction took inspiration from organic forms, how leaves support their structure efficiently, translating this principle into a shape that naturally guides the hand into a healthier position during use.
Observing how people naturally hold and interact with mouse during long work sessions was the most important. Many users were found to unconsciously adjust their grip or take frequent breaks due to discomfort in the wrist and fingers.

CAD Process
Using CAD helped to move the design forward efficiently. It allowed quick testing of different shapes and dimensions before creating physical models. The digital models made it easier to check how components would fit inside the mouse and identify potential issues early.
Prototyping process
Physical prototypes played a vital role in validating the design. Early 3D-printed versions focused on form evaluation, testing how different users with varying hand sizes interacted with the shape. These prototypes revealed unexpected pressure points that sketches and renders couldn't predict, leading to three major revisions of the thumb rest area.
