Faced with the challenge of dense underground networks that prevented traditional planting, this student project reimagined urban greening through elevated canopy structures. Designed for bustling shopping streets and more, this installation has an ecological benefits, supporting plants that gradually form a living roofscape. The canopy concept naturally extends to university campuses and metropolitan parks, transforming spaces into hubs for relaxation, study, and social interaction. In academic settings, these structures create shaded outdoor classrooms. For city parks, the canopies offer much needed respite from urban heat, with integrated seating encouraging community connection.
The elevated green zone with planting space allowing for a variety of small shrubs and foliage. The base of the structure includes a system of concentric circular benches, segmented to allow access.
